My research topic was autism and my research question was, “What are the symptoms of autism?” I noticed that some people with autism have a slower development than people without autism. So that means that there brain works kind of slow then people without autism for example in “From the Margins to the Mainstream” Temple Grandin couldn’t speak until she was four years old which really is a old age to start speaking because people without autism usually start speaking at the age of two or two and a half. Autism is a disease that affects your brain and makes you have a slower development of feeling or thinking what other people think; also there are different signs of autism including difficulty communicating.
Autistic people who are young or are in their teens really have trouble with developing relationships with friends, family etc. Autistic people usually tend to spend time playing alone rather than with friends (Signs of autism). This tells me that usually people who have autism and are young or in their teens like to be alone or they like to play by theirself. Also some autistic people have few or no real friends at all (Signs of autism). This tells me that some young people with autism don’t have friends because some people might think that the autistic people are not like them or that they are different than us. Young autistic people usually find it difficult to develop relationship. This can affect the kid because if they can’t fall asleep and when they go to school the next day they won’t be able to do there work because they would be very tired.
Furthermore usually autistic people who are in there teens have problems with verbal communication. Autistic people usually talk a lot about favorite topics, but find to talk about a range of topics (Signs of autism). This tells me that they talk about the topic they like, but they can’t talk about different kinds of topic. Also some times they get confused by expression (Signs of autism). This tells me that if you told them that someone was full of hot air which means to talk a lot some autistic people will actually think that someone is full of hot air. This is a problem that the teenagers face because
If you want to know if your child has autism there are signs to see if they do have autism. Some people who have autism have aggressive behavior so you can tell that they are autistic if they have aggressive behavior, but this doesn’t apply to all autistic people only some (Autism in the Teen Years). This tells me that some people with autism usually have aggressive behavior for example “From the Margins to the Mainstream” Temple Grandin who was autistic had lots of fights growing up like the one time when she was in high school she made a person’s nose bleed, but after that fight she never got into a fight again. Also some autistic people have difficulty with sleeping (Autism in the Teen Years). This tells me that some autistic people can’t sleep that well. Also many children with ASD which is autism spectrum disorder improve in social and communication behaviour during adolescence and adulthood. This tells me that when children are young with autism some things for them are difficult for them, but as they grow up they improve on it a lot better. There are many more signs of autism, but I named a few.
Autism is a disease that affects your brain and makes you have a slower development; also there are different signs of autism including difficulty communicating. My research changed my perspective on autism because I used to think that autistic people were not smart, but now I know that they are smart, but they just have a slower development of feeling or understanding what other people feel. Another topic that I would research that is related to autism is asperger syndrome because we learned about it in the text “From the Margins to the Mainstream” but I want to learn more about the diseases like the advantages and disadvantages.
